EORI's Director Dr. Steven M. Carpenter will be a speaker for the Congressional Fact Finding Tour on the topic of CO2-Enhanced Oil Recovery. The Congressional Fact Finding Tour, hosted by the Northeast Wyoming Municipal Leader’s Group (NEWY) will be taking place August 13 - 17, 2018 in Wyoming.
NEWY, comprised of leaders from several municipalities in NE Wyoming hold annual tours as fact-finding tours of sites in Wyoming's energy industry for the purpose of showing congressional delegates and their aides how the energy industry in this state works cooperatively with tourism and other industries in a symbiotic relationship beneficial to the region and the state.
Attendees will visit significant cultural and historic sites around the state of Wyoming including a Tour of WWII POW Camp Douglas and Devils Tower and learn about the two biggest industries in Wyoming – energy production and tourism. Both industries that are critical to the economic health of Wyoming and the nation. Wyoming leads the nation in coal, trona, and uranium production, and is fifth in natural gas production.
Among the Industry related sites attendees will visit are the Bucking Horse Gas Plant, a drilling rig for Chesapeake Energy, the Durham Buffalo Ranch, and the Blackjewel Eagle Butte Coal Mine.
